Imagine if you had immediate access to practically any song you can think of without needing to buy it or download it illegally. If you use Spotify, you get just that. Spotify is a massive music catalog that allows you to play your favorites and discover new music by using its radio and related artists function. If you already know exactly what you want to hear, the program features a search engine that allows you to search for music in a variety of ways. In addition to the typical song, artist and album search, you can also search by decade or genre.
Searching for music isn't where Spotify stops, though. If you find something that you know another Spotify user will love, you can send it directly to his Spotify inbox. If it's so great that you want everyone you know to hear about it, you can share your music finds via Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook. You can even scrobble everything you're listening to to your Last.fm account via the preferences tab. Import your own music into the program and set it as your default player, learn about your favorite bands via detailed biographies or simply check out the list of top music that Spotify offers. Often, new albums are released to Spotify on the same day that they release to buy, allowing you to try it before you buy it.
Spotify works on three different levels. Free users can listen to as much ad-supported music as they wish, share as much as they wish and create unlimited playlists. Unlimited users pay a small fee per month in order to listen without ads. Premium users pay slightly more per month and can listen to their playlists and starred tracks on their mobile device or even listen in offline mode. The powerful program is almost impossible to beat with new features and music being added daily.
